Getting involved in student journalism is a great way of gaining experience and helping you towards the goal of becoming a full-time professional.
But the risks involved in getting things wrong are as great for student media as they are for mainstream products.
Our regular student workshops are a great way of making sure your knowledge of media law and regulation are up to date.
We hold workshops twice a year at our London headquarters.
Lunch is provided and you also get a chance to look around the newsroom of PA in London.
The training is delivered by our course tutors so you also get a taster of what being on our NCTJ Diploma and magazine courses is like.
"Interesting, informative and integral
"Several of my colleagues and I have had the pleasure of attending numerous Press Association Masterclasses. Covering a wide range of topics, we all found them extremely useful, and returned to our student newspapers full of skills, knowledge and tips to pass on the rest of the team. Areas we have learnt about include media law, interview technique and headline-writing.
"We also thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the PA newsroom, which we found fascinating, and are extremely interested in the NCTJ course that we discussed, which a number of us plan to apply to. It was also interesting to share experiences with editors from other student publications.
"We were privileged to be in the company of such experienced journalists and receive a full day of training for free. We highly recommend the Masterclasses to any student journalist."
Zaki Dogliani, Epigram Editor 2014-2015
"The training provided the team with really useful skills on writing to a professional journalistic standard.
We learnt how to craft copy into its most engaging and concise form. The interview skills we were taught have also already been put into practice! And more importantly, being shown around a professional newsroom gave our team an insight into what it would
be like to pursue a career in journalism."

If your dream is to become a magazine journalist, I cannot recommend this course highly enough. It’s a big commitment, extremely intensive and often quite stressful, but you leave with a wide range of essential personal and professional skills, enhanced confidence and a group of friends for life.
