We are looking people who are serious about pursuing a career as a sports reporter in regional or national news media, in print, online, broadcast or other digital platform..

The core skills that make up good sports reporters are:

  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal
  • A passion for sport and sports news
  • A willingness to work hard
  • An inquiring mind
  • A wide knowledge of sport in general and football in particular.

If you think you have these attributes, the course may well be for you.

You need to be aware that the course is hard work. You will be in the training centre five days a week, and on one day each weekend from week five, you will be expected to cover a match at the weekend.

We are very aware that you will be making a substantial financial commitment in your own future by applying for the course. With that in mind, we like to see evidence of candidates having completed a period of work experience in a related environment before they come on the course.

This ensures that you can be certain you know exactly what the job is like before you embark on this route. and are sure it is for you.
