News reportingDo you dream of being a reporter?

Practising their shorthand up to 100wpm

The Press Association course offers you the best chance of achieving your ambition of becoming a news reporter, and we have been named the top performing course by the NCTJ more times than any other training provider.

Most of our trainees go on to forge successful careers in journalism, working at titles all over the country and abroad. As well as the knowledge and experience you will gain, you can expect to make some amazing contacts through the course that will hold you in good stead as you begin life as a reporter.

We pack a huge amount into the 17-week course and our trainees must be prepared to rise to the challenge. We cover all the areas of knowledge required by a multi-media reporter today, including:

  • News awareness
  • News values
  • Writing skills
  • Interviewing
  • Shorthand to 100 words per minute
  • Law
  • Government/Public Affairs
  • Reporting online
  • Video journalism
  • Understanding the business of news

Our London headquarters are two minutes from Victoria Station and ideally placed in the very centre of London. Our main newsroom there is staffed 24 hours a day, and from there we provide news, pictures and video coverage of the biggest stories in the UK, 365 days a year.

Our next course starts on August 20 – December 14.
